Our Programmes Care and Support

Family Care Services

Ubuntu provides community-based care services for families coping with HIV/AIDS and other crises. Families enrolled in the our Care and Support programme receive assistance with accessing health services, including VCT and ART, monitoring of HIV progression, ongoing psychosocial support and counseling, risk reduction and couples counseling, referrals to prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission (PMTCT), access to income grants, home-based care, nutritional support and referrals to other service providers. We have strong referral networks among service providers in Port Elizabeth including clinics and hospitals, the Dept. of Social Development, the Dept. of Home Affairs, Childline, the Rape Crisis Centre, the National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders (NICRO), the Family and Marriage Society of South Africa (FAMSA), other non-government organizations (NGOs), home-based care providers, and hospice services.
