Our Programmes HIV Prevention Outreach

In our communities over 60% of new HIV infections are in the 16 to 22 age group with girls overwhelmingly affected.
 

South Africa has been hard-hit by the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Ubuntu Education Fund works in a community with a 40% HIV prevalence. Therefore, preventing the spread of HIV is an essential element to stabilizing our community and keeping children happy and healthy.

 

Services include:

Counseling and testing outreach

  • Counseling and testing five days a week at Ubuntu headquarters and in remote, underserved areasTB screening
  • Condom demonstrations and family planning advice

Community events focused on HIV prevention

  • Events that target men and boys, including male initiation ceremoniesTesting campaigns for community members
  • Quarterly events at Ubuntu headquarters that offer counseling and testing, as well as focused prevention messaging
