Ubuntu Education Fund is founded on the philosophy of ubuntu, a universal bond of sharing that connects all of humanity. Using this philosophy, we have created the Ubuntu Model - a community-based strategy that ensures ownership and sustainability of our educational initiatives. Our programmes engage in the continued struggle to make the free South Africa a prosperous South Africa for all.
Ubuntu Education Fund has developed a comprehensive, peopled-centred response to address the unique needs of our community. We remain committed to providing these services until our community achieves the equality they deserve. We believe strongly in caring holistically for the children and families we reach, so we prioritise deepening our programmes' reach to make a more sustainable impact on each child. Ubuntu provides a continuum of support that follows each child until they themselves become leaders in their community.
We address challenges on an individual, family and community level. Our dynamic initiatives generate a cycle of empowerment in the Port Elizabeth townships, emboldening vulnerable children and their families to lead their communities toward healthy futures. Ubuntu's novel approach to service provision transforms our community members into peer educators, community role models, advocates and equal partners in the sustainable development of South Africa. That cycle is a product of the ubuntu model that drives Ubuntu Education Fund. Our integrated services are composed of four programmes: Empowerment; HIV Prevention Outreach; Clinical; and Care and Support.
